Bearings housings and Self-Aligning Bearings are key components in the operation of many industrial machines.
Bearings enable machines to withstand high loads, while self-aligners support high loads and compensate for misalignment. They can tolerate high stresses, such as vibrations or very high speeds. There are different types of parts to choose from, depending on your needs and intended use. Look at our complete range of Bearings and aligners.
Why use these Bearings?
Self-aligning Bearings are suitable for a wide range of applications. They are not susceptible to corrosion and are suitable for the dustiest and toughest environments. They are easy to fit and available in a wide range of bores.
The different types of Bearings
Bearings Housings
A Bearings is a mechanical component that enables a part to rotate around an axis. It is a guiding support that withstands heavy loads. It reduces friction when parts move. They are used on mechanical shafts such as rotary transmission shafts.
Self-aligning Bearings
Self-aligning Bearings are designed to compensate for machine misalignment. They are particularly useful in situations where assembly tolerances are tight, or where misalignment may occur. Self-aligning Bearings comprise a ball insert Bearings and a housing.
They can be used on :
Motors, industrial fans, gears, transmission shaft, mining equipment, drilling machines and agricultural machinery.
Please note that self-aligners are only suitable for Bearings with a spherical outside diameter. In general, they are not compatible with Bearings with a cylindrical outer ring.
Bearings Housings
The Bearings Housing is a component that can accommodate a variety of standard Bearings. They come in a variety of forms (Plummer Block, surface-mounted, clamping Bearings, etc.). They can be in one or two parts and are widely used in the industrial sector.
What are the differences between Self-aligning Bearings and Bearings Housings?
It's important to distinguish between the two types of components. There are several differences between self-aligning Bearings and Bearings units:
The self-aligning Bearings is a pair composed of a Bearings and an insert Bearings.
An insert Bearings does not compensate for major misalignments.
Self-aligning Bearings are easy to install and maintain. Bearings inserts, on the other hand, are easy to maintain, but need to be aligned very precisely during installation. There must be no play during installation.
Self-aligning Bearings can support moderate axial loads and high radial loads. Bearings resistance varies according to the type of Bearings selected.
Types of Bearings
Ball Bearings: Designed to reduce friction, they are ideal for high-speed, low-load applications. These Bearings may or may not be grooved.
Roller Bearings: These feature cylindrical rollers and can support high radial loads. They are particularly suited to heavy industrial equipment.
Needle roller Bearings: Needle Roller Bearings are designed to support high radial loads while occupying less space. They feature long, thin rollers. They are used where space is limited.
Self-aligning Bearings: This type of Bearings has a self-aligning function to compensate for shaft misalignments in relation to their housing.
Plummer block Bearings: These include a Plummer Block Housing that facilitates installation on flat surfaces. These parts are commonly used for conveyors and agricultural machinery.
How to choose a Self-aligning Bearings?
It's very important to observe the characteristics of the parts before buying.
The material: Bearings are made from steel, cast iron or composite materials. All these materials are strong and offer high mechanical resistance.
Tolerated load: You must always assess the radial and axial loads that the parts must support, as well as the anticipated rotation speeds. Choose systems that meet these requirements and are robust enough to deliver optimum performance.
Operating conditions: Take into account the environmental conditions of the installation site, such as temperature, humidity and the possible presence of contaminants. Choose Bearings made from materials and coatings designed to withstand these conditions.
Precise dimensions: Observe the inside diameter (bore), shaft height, mounting centre distance and thickness of the parts to make the right choice. Dimensions must match the shafts of your machines. Our products come in a wide range of widths and compactnesss, so it's important to observe their characteristics to make the right choice.
Tolerance: Make sure the components you select are compatible with the mounting tolerances of your machines. Self-aligning Bearings are particularly useful when mounting tolerances are tight, or when misalignments are likely to occur.
Top Brands:
SKF, FAG, INA, PTN, NSK & Mecaline. Many manufacturers offer high-quality mechanical components. Always choose a reputable brand that complies with the various safety standards in force, for safe, long-lasting parts.
Bearings and self-aligning Bearings applications
These components are used in numerous applications in the agricultural, industrial, logistics, construction and transportation sectors. They can be used in :
Conveyors, presses, cutting and machining centres, agricultural machinery (tractors, combines, ploughs, etc.), construction machinery (bulldozers, cranes, drills, etc.), forklift trucks and handling systems, mining equipment, drilling equipment.
The right choice of Bearings and self-aligning devices optimizes the life and performance of the machines they equip.
